OJIBWE DESCENDANT REVEREND MARK MacDONALD BECOMES 1ST NATION INDIGENOUS ANGLICAN BISHOP

Born January 15, 1954, Mark received his Bachelor’s degree (religious studies & psychology) at College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, Minnesota, Master of Arts in Divinity from Wycliffe, and did post-graduate work at Luther-Northwestern Theological Seminary, Minneapolis. Marc held Episcopal positions in Mississauga, Ontario; Duluth; Tomah & Mauston, Wisconsin; Portland, Oregon; Red Lake Nation, Alaska (1997-2007) and the Southeast Regional mission, Diocese of Navajoland (2007-09). In 2007, MacDonald became the 1st National Indigenous Bishop (Archbishop in 2019) of the Anglican Church of Canada with pastoral oversight of all Indigenous Canadian Anglicans. In February 2013, Mark received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for spiritual leadership. In April 2022, he resigned from his ministry.
