CHEROKEE WNBA PLAYER ANGEL GOODRICH BORN

Goodrich, born in Glendale, Arizona, and an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation, played college basketball at the University of Kansas (KU). Despite suffering ACL injuries in her freshman and sophomore years, she still scored over 1,000 career points for KU, and was the Jayhawks’ all-time career assists leader (771–3rd highest in Big 12 Conference history). In her senior year, Angel earned First Team All-Big 12 honors, was a member of the WBCA All-Region 5 Team, a finalist for the Naismith, Wooden, Nancy Lieberman, and USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale Awards, as well as the Wade Trophy. In 2013, Goodrich was drafted by the WNBA Tulsa Shock and, during the 2013–14 off-season, played for Chevakata Vologda in the Russian Premier League. In 2015, she played for the Seattle Storm as well as a half season in Russia and full season in Poland. Let go by Seattle in 2016, Angel Goodrich was a personal trainer, blackjack dealer, and school tutor before joining the Tulsa Fire Department in 2019.
