CREE ACTOR LORNE CARDINAL BORN

Cardinal, born at Sucker Creek, Alberta (AB), earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of AB (1993). On stage, he had roles in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in Dream and Black Elk Speaks. On TV, he has appeared in Lonesome Dove: The Series (1994), Tecumseh (1994-95), North of 60 (1995-97), and in Gil Cardinal’s miniseries Big Bear (1998). Noted for playing First Nations roles in such productions as Canada: A People’s History, Tkaronto, and Corner Gas, Cardinal also did voice work on the APTN animated series Wapos Bay: The Series. In 2011, he co-starred Thunderstick. Lorne produced the documentary Chasing Lear (2016) featuring an all-Aboriginal cast and toured nationally in Where the Blood Mixes, winner of the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama. He remains active in theatre working with Native Earth Performing Arts and Saskatchewan Native Theatre. As of 2020, Cardinal has a recurring role in the network TV drama FBI: Most Wanted. Cardinal lives in Squamish, British Columbia.
