LENAPE DANIEL BARKER BORN—FREEDOM FROM RELIGION FOUNDATION

Born in Santa Monica, California (CA), Barker earned a degree in religion from Azusa Pacific University. Ordained by the Standard Community Church, CA, in 1975, Daniel preached for 19 years and was associate pastor at Arcadia Friend’s Church, Glengrove Assembly of God, and Standard Christian Center, as well as doing missionary work in Mexico for 2 years. A musical accompanist, composer, and arranger, Daniel produced the children’s Christian musicals, Mary Had a Little Lamb (1977) and His Fleece Was White as Snow (1978). In 1984, Barker became an atheist and, three years later, became Public Relations Director for the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF). In 2004, he and his wife, Annie Laurie Gaylor, became FFRF co-presidents. Barker has published Losing Faith in Faith (1992) and Godless (2008). Enrolled in the Lenni Lenape Delaware Tribe of Indians, Daniel published Paradise Remembered (1991), a collection of his grandfather’s stories as a Lenape boy. Barker & Gaylor host Freethought Radio.
