“MAGNIFICENT SEVEN” TLINGIT ACTOR MARTIN SENSMEIER BORN

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, but raised in Yakutat, Martin’s father is Tlingit and his mother is Koyukon–Athabascan. He worked as a welder and later on an oil rig before pursuing an acting career in Los Angeles. Sensmeier began work as a professional model before turning to acting. His first feature film was the sci-fi thriller Encounter. His major film credit, however, a leading role, was as one of the “seven”, in the 2016 feature film The Magnificent Seven. In 2017, he was cast in the lead role in the biopic, The Chickasaw Rancher portraying Montford Johnson, the man who built a ranching empire near the Chisholm Trail. Most recently, Sensmeier joined the cast in the second (2018) season of the HBO television series Westworld, in the recurring role of Wanahton. Sensmeier is a member of the Native Wellness Institute, a youth advocacy.
