CREE ACTRESS/VOICE ACTRESS/MUSICIAN CREE SUMMER BORN

Cree Summer Francks was born in Los Angeles, but grew up on the Red Pheasant Reserve in Saskatchewan, in British Columbia, and in Toronto where she attended school. Like her mother, she is an adopted member of the Plains Cree First Nation. Her best-known TV acting role was as college student Winifred “Freddie” Brooks on the NBC sitcom A Different World (1988-93). She has done spot roles since then. As an animated-TV voice actress from 1983-present, Summer’s credits include: Penny (Inspector Gadget, Season 1; Elmyra Duff (Tiny Toon Adventures); Susie Carmichael (Rugrats & All Grown Up); Princess Kida (Atlantis: The Lost Empire); Valerie Gray (Danny Phantom); Foxxy Love (Drawn Together); Numbuh 5 and Cree Lincoln (Codename: Kids Next Door); and Cleo the Dog (Clifford the Big Red Dog). She has done numerous voices for games. Summer performed musically with the band Subject to Change in the early 1990s. She released a solo album, Street Faërie, with Lenny Kravitz in 1999.
